Yaya opened her shop, Yaya’s, where it is because there were no natural hair salons in the area. Where natural hair is treated the way it deserves — unhurried, attentive, and built around the head of hair in front of her.

Yaya’s Natural Hair Boutique is Black-owned, but what’s incredible is how it opened. Yaya opened her shop months after obtaining her Master Cosmetology license — an achievement that is not common within her profession. Her dedication to haircare opens her clients to a tailored experience where comfort is expressed in every client as they sit in her chair. It is a family-oriented shop, catering to clients of all ages. No scalp is the same, but all are given attentive care.

Yaya opened the boutique after a decade of doing natural hair out of her home studio, and the shop on Sylvan Rd is still built around the way she prefers to work — one client in the chair at a time, no double-booking, no rushed final hour.

Her specialty is the opening move: starter locs, first consultations, and the color services that change how a head of hair moves through the world. Long-time clients have been following her for ten, fifteen years, which is the most honest review we can offer.
